New word: autocracy. Autocracy is used broadly to mean “one person” rule, elected person or not. Under this broad definition it includes monarchs, dictators, emperors, kings, presidents, tyrants, and any political or economic entity where final decisive power is in the hands of one person.
The primary political struggle, existing on planet earth today, is between autocracy and democracy. Autocracy consolidates power into fewer hands. Democracy disperses power, through voting technology, to the many.
The people of the United States want democracy in the Middle East. Consensus exists for this in middle America. Reflection of this consensus, however, in US foreign policy, is not guaranteed. Democratic movements in Egypt, Tunisia, or elsewhere cannot depend on reliable support from the US, at least, not in the near term.
As with many governments, democratic or otherwise, the US government does not always represent the underlying will of its citizens. US government policy reflects the policy of the prevailing political-elect. Today, America’s prevailing political elect are America’s wealthy-elite. Therefore, US foreign political policy reflects the interests of America’s wealthy-elite.
America’s wealthy elite became that way through corporate economic systems. The military industrial complex is a huge corporate system in full-blown war mode in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is in war “ready mode” all around the planet. This foreign policy is a wealth-interest of many wealthy-elite Americans, in or controlling, US government foreign policy.
Villains, scapegoats, and wars against villains is lucrative “big” business for many large US corporations. The Middle East and oil interests provide a perfect storm to perpetuate lucrative war activities for US military industrial monopolies. US military-industrial-monopoly foreign policy advocates scour the planet for villains, scapegoats, and wars to perpetuate growth and profit. Thousands of corporate lobbyists assert increasing influence on America’s elected government.
This is simply to say that democratic structures are human structures capable of fallacy and corruption. US middle America struggles to control its own radical wealthy-elite autocracies. It is difficult for middle America to pry power from the “dead hands” of its ruling radical-wealthy-elite elected oligarchy.
Maybe struggling democracies in the Middle East can learn from America’s history and struggle. Democracy is an ongoing work in progress.
Poor restaurant service requires more waiters. Fire everywhere requires more fighters. Crime everywhere requires more police. Elected oligarchy requires more congresspersons. Elected monarchy requires more presidents. America lacks governance? Keep the congress and add 11k more. Keep the president and add 8 more. Democracy disperses power. Autocracy consolidates power. The wealthy elite supports ME thugs. Middle America has defaulted to wealthy elite foreign policy for decades. When 6000 middle Americans occupy the US senate, this will all become ancient history.

What’s happening now is more important. The Middle East wants democracy. The US is well advised to get on the bandwagon.
What you say is too true. The radical wealthy elite (thug leaders in America) support thug-leaders around the world. This is not by consensus of middle America, only in default by middle America. This is the purpose of MARP.
