“I’m from the government and I’m here to help”. Ronald Reagan described these as the most terrifying nine words of the English language. Ronald Reagan was “from the government”, and like the government, since about 1840 (another subject), was half right.
An elected monarchy, the presidency, is half right. Elected is democracy. Monarchy is, well, monarchy. An elected oligarchy congress is half right. Elected is democracy. Oligarchy is, well, oligarchy. Where is congress’ better half? Where are the 267 women? (Not even half right. 170 since 1776?)
Half truth is the norm for American government since about 1840. Half truth produced a civil war, two world wars, a great depression, and produces eight elephants today: war, immigration, ecology, recession, foreclosure, joblessness, tax, and debt.
The path to full truth is more democracy in the executive and legislative branches of America’s government. Upgrade the executive from monarchy to oligarchy. Change from one elected president to nine elected presidents. Upgrade congress from oligarchy to democracy using the proper representation of 1776. Change from 535 congresspersons to 12,000 congresspersons. Simply stated, upgrade our existing monarchy/oligarchy elected government to a democratic government.
Bad service requires more waiters. Fires everywhere requires more fighters. Crime requires more police. Elected oligarchy requires more congresspersons. Elected monarchy requires more presidents. America lacks governance? Keep the congress and add 11k more. Keep the president and add 8 more. Democracy disperses power. Autocracy consolidates power. Step it up, America. Be proactive.
