Independence is an important American value. It was first expressed in a “Declaration of Independence” to England, July 4, 1776. The revolutionary war was fought for independence. Independence ranks highly with Americans, along with equality, democracy, and freedom.
Why then, shouldn’t one of the fifty states, if passed democratically in its legislature, be able to declare its independence of other states in the union or the federal government? Why doesn’t congress allow a “petition of independence”, issue by issue, from state governments? Why doesn’t congress allow state independence on issues, with clearly agreed restrictions, amendments, and limitations? Why can’t congress pass “allowance of independence” resolutions, issue by issue, state by state?
A big part of independence is economic freedom, a desire to print a new currency and control that currency within some geographical (state) region. This is very lucrative economic activity currently controlled by eastern wallstreet banker political cartels.
For hundreds of years control of currency motivates the establishment of nation states. Currency is a powerful glue that holds nations together. Currency is a powerful influence on national war and peace. It is a powerful factor in national stability. Currency is the largest motivator and preserver of global nationalism in the world today.
The biggest elephant in this room is a one word answer, currency. Around the corner of any secession comes a state printing a currency. Any new currency will seriously affect any existing currency valuations. New currencies will seriously affect existing markets and established banking systems. The US dollar currency value is vulnerable to state secession and currency establishment. It is highly unlikely the wallstreet banker eastern political establishment will approve any competing currency, as didn’t the north in 1861. US currency value will dive with each state secession. Wallstreet doesn’t want competition in financial markets at state level. It is naïve to think this won’t be fought “tooth and nail”. There is history.
It is history heresy to suggest that the civil war was fought, not so much about slavery, but more about preserving the currency and northern economic dominance. It is unrealistic to believe that preserving the currency played no part in the civil war. It is unrealistic, today, to believe that preserving the currency doesn’t resist state secession efforts.
Currency aside, if that is possible, issues other than economic freedom exist that leads states towards secession.
An example: Arizona wants to govern its own boarders in respect to illegal immigration and boarder passage from Mexico. Why shouldn’t Arizona’s legislature be allowed to “petition independence” on boarder issues from the federal government? In a “petition of independence” Arizona outlines jurisdictional independent areas of Arizona immigration policy, seeking approval from the federal congress. Why not extend state “petition of independence” rights to other issue areas like education, healthcare, economic, or trade independence?
Why shouldn’t states be allowed any independent governance activity, if approved by the federal congress with agreed upon amendments or restrictions.
The federal government can play an important role encouraging independent activity by state governments. The result is a stronger United Independent States of America.
It’s common sense. When service in a restaurant suffers, more waiters are needed. It’s common sense. When fire breaks out everywhere, more fire fighters are needed. It’s common sense. When crime becomes rampant, more police are needed. It’s common sense. Building a house requires enough carpenters or waiting a lifetime for results. #c535+1 didn’t build Hoover dam. #c535+1 didn’t build the interstate highway. Middle America did. (millions of them)
It’s common sense. When democracy morphs to elected oligarchy and America lacks governance, send help to the few surviving democratic representatives. More representatives are required. More presidents are required.Apportion: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/apportion?s=t Apportionment: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/apportionment?s=t http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apportionment_%28politics%29 Apportion history of failure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_the_first Apportion Math: http://middleamericareformparty.blogspot.com/2012/11/mart-apportionment-math.html Keep the #c535+1.
